Intro to Spatial Analysis in R, with particular focus on the social sciences

Description: Transforming GIS workflows to open source programming languages is an affordable, scalable process that can link research teams across disciplines and make research more reproducible. In this workshop we walk through the basics of R for spatial analysts. We will also geocode resources, pull census data and boundaries using tidycensus, generate a simple accessibility metric, and make several maps. We use tutorials from our new opensource toolkit generated to measuring the opioid risk environment for an NIH-funded program. Total R beginners welcome, though we encourage a review of basics prior to the workshop (will be sent after registration).
