GeoMentors: the Nationwide Effort to Improve K-12 GIS and Geography Education
Wednesday, November 02, 2016, 2:00 AM - 3:00 PM EDT
Category: Webinars

The AAG-Esri GeoMentors program develops and supports a nationwide volunteer network of GeoMentors, knowledgeable GIS users and educators, to support Esri's ConnectED donation of ArcGIS online software to all US K-12 schools. GeoMentors play a pivotal role in improving GIS and geography education by helping schools and teachers introduce GIS and geographic concepts into classrooms across the country. This is a great service opportunity to contribute to the future of GIS use and innovation. Learn more about this exciting initiative including how to get started, available resources to support your efforts, and reports from successful GeoMentor engagements throughout the US.

PresenterCandice Luebbering is a Senior Research Geographer at the American Association of Geographers where she is the Program Coordinator for the AAG-Esri GeoMentors program. Her graduate degrees (M.S., PhD) are in geography from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) with research in the areas of cartography and GIS, but really she simply labels herself as a map nerd and geography advocate.
