TRELIS 2020 > Call for Applications

Are you in an academic or research position in the geospatial sciences?  Are you pre-tenure?  Are you anxious about the promotion process? Do you have career questions that are not specifically about work, or about work-life balance, but you are not sure who to ask? Do you sometimes wonder if you made the right career choice for yourself? Are you interested in having career mentors outside of your own workplace? Do you struggle with conflict resolution or managing politics in the department? If you answered YES to a few of these questions, then this workshop is for you.

Eligibility

Overall, the TRELIS workshops are designed for women working in higher education in the geospatial sciences (GIS, remote sensing, cartography, and related mapping sciences). This includes tenure-track or non-tenure track faculty, post-doctoral researchers, and other academic professionals. For our cohort in 2020, the workshop will focus on early career faculty who are interested in exploring challenges for women in the geospatial sciences. Eligible candidates must hold a PhD or comparable terminal degree, and priority will be given to applicants who have earned these since 2012. Applicants should be in an academic position or have been accepted into an academic position starting in the immediate future. Priority will be given to early career academics.

This workshop is tailored towards the issues frequently raised by early career scholars. However, if you have a question about whether this workshop is right for you and whether you should apply, please write to: Dr. Diana Sinton ([email protected]) or Dr. Kate Beard ([email protected]) immediately.
