Salary range: The posted UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. Assistant Professor - Indigenous/Latinx geospatial analysis, representation and GIS -Department of Geography
The Department of Geography at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in critical geospatial practice and analysis at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall semester 2024. We seek a scholar with a commitment to and in the Americas with attention to Indigenous and/or Latinx politics, contexts, and issues, who has an analytically rich and critically engaged geospatial practice including critical data studies, geocomputation, remote sensing, or GIS. Thematic areas of interest could include (but are not restricted to) geospatial research in racial/ethnic inequalities and/or human rights or environmental politics or data sovereignty. This position offers synergies with emerging research and teaching programs in Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS).

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
A PhD or equivalent international degree or enrollment in a PhD or equivalent international degree program is a basic qualification at the time of application.
Preferred qualifications
Completion of the Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) by the start date of the position.
Evidence of strong research productivity, and the potential for securing extramural funding.
A record of teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, especially those from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds.
A track record of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the realms of research, teaching, and/or service.
