Plan your tripThe 2022 UCGIS Symposium will be held in person June 7-9, with workshops June 6, on the beautiful campus of Syracuse University. The Symposium is taking place in the Schine Student Center, in Goldstein Auditorium (not to be confused with the Goldstein Student Center on South Campus). COVID-19 InformationEffective Wednesday, June 1, the following guidelines are in place for campus locations and facilities:
For information specific to other locations (restaurants, hotels, etc.), please check with that establishment directly. AccommodationsTo keep costs at a minimum, we have made arrangements to offer housing in a dormitory only a 5 minute walk from the venue. Dormitory arrangements will be made by UCGIS. For details, and to register, please visit the Housing page. You are also welcome to make your own arrangements at one of the hotels in the area. TravelDriving DirectionsThe SU campus is easily accessible from several major interstates. I-81 runs north-south through Syracuse, and is crossed by I-90 to the north and I-690 in the downtown area. Google directions to Schine Student Center or 200 Waverly Ave, Syracuse, NY 13210 will get you to the venue.
Air TravelThose traveling by air will fly into Syracuse Hancock International Airport. The airport is about a 15 minute drive from campus, but can take longer in rush hour.
Bus or Train TravelWalsh Regional Transportation Center is a terminus for Greyhound and Amtrak, and is approximately 10 minutes from campus by car, or 40 minutes by local bus. ParkingParking is limited to a few lots on campus. More information will be available at the registration desk. If you are arriving for Monday workshops, please park in the University Avenue Garage or Comstock Garage (see map). Rates are listed here. Parking is also available at the Sheraton for $16 daily. Biking RestaurantsSome popular dinner spots: More options - select by cuisine type, region, etc. Dining for Large PartiesMany local restaurants are able to accommodate larger parties without advance notice, but a quick call ahead or an online reservation will assure that your wait will be minimal and the staff will be prepared for your visit. Many places use RESY for reservations. |
